Estate and Inherited Vessel Disposal
For executors and families who have been left a large boat and no paperwork.
The common situation
Somebody has died and left a 42ft boat that has not run in years, sitting at a marina that is still billing the estate every month. Nobody in the family sails. The title is somewhere. The marina wants it gone, and the estate cannot close until it is.
This is a routine job for us and an overwhelming one for most families, mainly because of the paperwork rather than the boat.
What we can work with
We can proceed with a death certificate and letters of administration even where the original title is missing. If the vessel is USCG documented, the documentation transfer and cancellation is a separate process and we will walk you through it.
Before we quote disposal, we will tell you honestly whether the boat has resale value. Some do. Selling it is better for you than paying us to destroy it, and we would rather say that than take the job.
28 feet and over is our speciality — not our limit. Larger vessels are what our equipment, permits and yard relationships are built around, and they are the jobs most haulers decline. Smaller boats are welcome too. See what the work costs and how to vet whoever you hire.
Other situations we handle
Tell us about the boat.
Send photos, a location and whatever paperwork exists. We will tell you what it takes to make it go away — and if there is a cheaper legal route than hiring us, we will tell you that too.
