Sarasota County
Working Sarasota Bay, Roberts Bay, Little Sarasota Bay, Venice Inlet and Big Sarasota Pass. Sarasota County runs from the dense bayfront and barrier islands in the north to the very large inland canal developments of North Port and South Venice in the south. Those two halves are entirely different removal markets: Siesta Key and Longboat Key are island-access jobs with bridge and street constraints, while North Port and Warm Mineral Springs are dry-land yard pulls a long way from any usable water.
The local constraint. Venice Inlet is the only reliable Gulf access for a large part of the county, and the fixed bridges on the ICW through Venice restrict air draft. A tall sailboat in south Sarasota County frequently has to go out by road rather than by water.
